Dreams

If I had a nickle
For each time I’ve thought of you
I’d quit my job and schooling
And live the way kings do.

Few banks could hold my money
All the land around I’d own
Many servants I could order
All the other kings dethrone.

But with all this wealth and power
My thoughts would never stray
I’d think about the times we had
Before you went away.

And if by chance I’d see you
In dreams or fantasy
We’d laugh and talk together
Just like it used to be.

Now I don’t have a nickle
For each time I’ve thought of you
So I’ll keep my job and stay in school
And dream the summer through.
